So I tried to ignore Achramo's feeble attempt at defending the secret RSB meetings but I cannot any longer. It has been brought to my attention that it is an RSB policy that everyone agrees on an issue before they vote. If anyone doubted the necessity of filing an Article 78 they should no longer. In fact, this blogger would argue that another Article 78 should be filed against the RSB and Achramo. I have and will continue to argue that the RSB continues to violate Open Meetings Laws. Despite WINNING her case and a State Supreme Court Justice ruling that Achramo and the RSB violated the law, Achramo contends the opposite and continues to violate the law. Apparently Achramo and some guidance counselor in the high school do not understand the difference between charges and relief. This is unforgivable considering Achrmo served as superintendent of two school districts and the other was an elected official in North Collins. If you do not understand these basic differences, I suggest that you have no business running for HTA President and no business running a school district. If you read the ruling, Mrs. Stephenson was successful in her charges but only partially successful in her relief. What is the significance of WINNING her charges? It is simple, the RSB has to conduct their business in the open. For example, if the RSB decides to cut a program, coaching position, AP class, graduation requirement, etc it all has to be done in the open. Therefore, when the public goes to vote on the budget they know exactly what is in and what is out. Unfortunately the RSB and Achramo ignored Judge Devlin's decision and continue to vote under consensus and discuss public issues in private. Secrecy seems to be more important than following the law and teachers still do not if their programs, classes, graduation requirements were changed. I have no doubt that the guidance counselor ascribes to this mantra as he is often in the administration's offices. Back to the the Article 78, if someone files an Article 78 again a judge will not be so kind to an arrogant and lawless board and superintendent. The Article 78 was necessary. Are the citizens of Hamburg supposed to sit back and allow the RSB and Achramo to violate the law just to keep the peace? Get a clue. Make the RSB and Achramo operate in the open, close the door on secrecy, and slam the door shut on legal fees.
