Two School Board Meetings in one week?
Last Tuesday June 21, 2011 the Hamburg Board of Education had an improperly convened "work session". It was posted the audit committee would meet, which is the entire Board of Education. The meeting lasted approximately 45 minutes. Allegedly the discussion revolved around the violations discovered in the recent internal audit of the district's policies and procedures. The question remains, why did the Board of Education have a special, emergency, meeting to discuss an audit? Unless, the audit revealed a serious violation by the district that could not wait until the next "scheduled" July12, 2011 meeting? And now, one week later a school board meeting is posted with less than 72 hours notice to the public? This is not a regularly scheduled meeting, those were voted on and posted last summer. It is the opinion of the writer of this posting that the district continues to violate the New York State Open Meeting Laws.
