Shining Stars or Death Stars?

The “Shining Star” award is given to intermediate level school board members who have achieved Rising Star status, have participated in Legislative Breakfast, and at least three ECASB programs in a single year, and who have actively serving at least one year on Delegate Assembly, Legislative or Budget/Finance/Program teamShining Star recipients included, from left: Casey Neyman (Hamburg BOE), Patricia Brunner Collins (Hamburg BOE), Jean Ranney (Clarence BOE), Mary Metzger (Cleveland Hill BOE), and Al McClymonds (Orchard Park BOE, not present for photo).  (Source: Erie County Association of School Boards)

Congratulations Vice President Collins, and Mr. Neyman (former BOE member).  The Hamburg School community is proud of your accomplishments.   We are thrilled that under your administrations, the district has year after year dropped in its rankings.  We are over the moon that you serve(d) on a BOE that has brought scandal to the community by your intentional actions to hide the people's business in phony executive sessions.  As I drive down Legion Drive and see Mark Crawford's field of dreams ablaze, I wonder why the shining stars didn't point out that the roof is falling in at Boston Valley, and a dozen or so members of the staff have been seriously injured by the decrepit windows in the High School.  As you twinkled, you raised the superintendent's salary to more than a member of the Unites States House of Representative while the teacher aides in your galaxy earn less than a living wage.  Mr. Neyman and Ms. Collins, you were galaxies away, when your principal at HHS manufactured several hundred points and played games with the educational opportunities of hard working students, at the cost of students who whine.

Shining Stars, where is the $1.8 million gone missing under Mr. Osbourne et. al?  Where's the misappropriated funds to the Hamburg School Foundation?  Where's the borrowed lottery money?  Why did you hire a superintendent who was fired by both of his last two employers?   Why have you approved the warrants to pay tens of thousands of dollars to Harris Beach?

Perhaps a more appropriate title for the tenures of Mrs. Brunner-Collins and Mr. Neyman would be Death Stars?

Next time you should see what is in Collins bottle.

In my opinion for Patty Brunner/Collins it is just a popularity contest her serving on the sb. SOBER sound judgement is lacking.

Same old sarcastic snarky rhetoric...

snarky rhetoric? are you suggesting that neyman and collins havent presided over some very sketchy events in hamburg? i get it, lets all stick our heads in the sand and let the corrupt continue sending our tax dollars to lawyers to clean up the messes they make.

I live in West Seneca, and pay a load in school taxes. Mark Crawford is a joke of a superintendent. There are many people talking about him and what he did in Hamburg. Its time to start going to WS BOE meetings to make sure he doent screw up like he did in Hamburg. Oh, and he makes over 175k per year. Thief.

No. You don't get it. Albert Einstein defined insanity as repeating the same action and expecting different results each time. This post only shows how this site continues to put out snarky sarcasm and expects it to make a difference. Clearly it hasn't. I don't deny the fact that scandalous acts are taking place, but I do think there are better ways than this. The post before this one is much better and presents real facts. That is what should be coming from this site more often.

Concerned Hamburger et. al have revealed only the tip of the iceberg. If the truth is construed as snarky so be it. The fact remains the public body running HCSD into the ground are afraid of feedback. Did you hear, they bring undercover cops to BOE meetings just in case a member of the public needs to be tasered. They have jacked up legal bills into the hundreds of thousand dollar range. Go to a BOE meeting and you will leave scratching your head wondering. Or better yet, go to another school board meeting where work is done in the publics eye, and wonder why Hamburg BOE ALWAYS AGREES ON EVERYTHING, no debate nothing...just heads bobbling up and down. Why have a government that doesnt engage in healthy discourse. Dr. Calkins ought to be ashamed to serve on the BOE.

The same rhetorical questions over and over are not truths. And I have heard that. Has anyone actually been tasered? Has anyone evened bothered speaking out?

sb same old rhetoric said...

To anonymous 8/7 3:28 pm,
Sure there has been members of the audience who have spoken at sb meetings. The Board refuses to operate in the open as the open meetings laws dictates. The SB defies the New York State Supreme Court decision to conduct their school dist. business in public not behind closed doors. So yes you can say the same old rheteric with this school board. The SB Pres. seems to think that this is ok, because she continues to operate in this illegal manner.

How much money has Harris Beach been paid? $1,800,000.00 went missing how would Mr. Osbourne be involved? Why did the district hire Steven A. Achramovitch? Who was given this latest BOE position and why is there no time or money for a special election so us tax payers may vote?
