Once again, the Hamburg taxpayer is footing the bill as the Board and the Superintendent squander monies to private consulting firms. Strangely, Energy Education is the same consulting firm the Superintendent used in Greece Schools. Shortly after the Superintendent "retired" from Greece, the Greece Board of Education ended its contract with the expensive consulting firm. Its important to note, the Hamburg Board of Education hired the consulting firm without sending the service out to bid. Had they thoroughly investigated professional services options, they may have come across the FREE services offered through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
Erie 1 BOCES can get it right [click here for link]. Instead of wasting taxpayer dollars on consultants, BOCES went after a grant from NYSERDA [click here for more on NYSERDA or click here for more on k-12 NYSERDA grants].
Why can't Hamburg's superintendent who is paid over $200,000 including benefits, bother to go after grants that can save the taxpayer's hundreds of thousands of dollars?
