Hamburg Teachers Association votes tomorrow for a wage freeze

The Hamburg Teachers Association in an abrupt action has presented a contract to its members which calls for a wage freeze with no guarantees that jobs would be retained. It was reported to Concerned that the Chief Negotiator at a sparsely attended meeting yesterday told the teachers that jobs would be saved.  Does the Union have any guarantees that if a wage freeze is passed that teachers won't be cut?  If this blog has proved anything, Steve Achramovitch and the administration cannot be trusted.  It seems so obvious that the pink slips handed out today are a tactic to pit young teachers against old teachers.  It also seems so obvious that it is working.  Steve Achramovitch and the overpaid administration have made zero concessions.  Not surprisingly, they expect concessions from the teachers.  Why would you vote on anything unless you had all the facts?  All of this should be a red flag to everyone.  Wake up!  Teachers are voting on a wage freeze and they will get nothing in return.

  • Teachers went to a single health care provider and what did they get in return? NOTHING*
  • Teachers passed APPR and what did they get?  NOTHING**
  • Teachers will pass this contract and what will they get?  NOTHING*

WAKE UP!
DO NOT VOTE ON ANYTHING UNLESS STEVE ACHRAMOVITCH AND THE BOARD OF EDUCATION WILL GUARANTEE ALL THE TEACHERS WILL BE SAVED!

*Oh wait, they got themselves to the bottom of the pay scale and possibly the worst contract in all of Erie County.
**Concerned is still waiting to hear about the supposed APPR grant money

Could anyone imagine Phil Rumore asking the Buffalo teachers for a wage freeze? Say what you want about Rumore, at least you know what he stands for and who he represents. I wonder if we can get Phil to represent Hamburg Teachers?

Steve will cut teachers no matter what the teachers vote tomorrow.

Imagine what a wage freeze will do for my salary in the long-run. This is ridiculous. How can our leadership even put this contract in from of us?

Has Steve though about cutting his inflated salary?

Why does it always rest on the teachers to save the district money? I still remember when we saved the district from the missing 1.8 million.

Despise Phil Rumore all you want, he does right by his teachers. Look at the stance he took against APPR.

Not a Hamburg Teacher has it right, who is running for School Board? They are the ones who hold the teachers' jobs in their hands.

Not having a contract is better than passing the purposed contract.

Teachers VOTE NO

Teachers, next up is health care. That little cause in the contract you are voting on gives Stevie and his fellow Supers in OP and Frontier a chance to create a consortium to buy health insurance. Or better yet, maybe you'll get the healthcare called for by Obama.
