Too bad no one voted to save my job or the other cut positions during the first round of cuts.

You can only get walked on if you are lying down! I am amazed at how stupid the teachers are. If the budget doesn't get passed by the community - jobs will be lost anyway and you just took a 1/2 year pay freeze - what did you get in return???? What's more - if jobs are saved this year - they won't be the following year. So, younger, ignorant teachers - start looking for a job now!

Concerned:

I'm not a teacher, but I believe your comment "teachers voted in favor of a pay freeze" is incorrect.

I believe it was a plan for the teachers to give up half of their step increase. In other words, they're still getting a raise, but a smaller one.

You need to do a better job of getting your facts right.

Hey Not A Teacher, Concerned does have their facts in line. The salaries are frozen until Febuary, 2013. That is a freeze. They will stay on step until next February. What would you call that? The district will use the money that was allocated, by law, to step raises. The teachers agree to stay frozen until February 2013. Oddly, the administrators agreed to a pay freeze, but only after their raises come thru in April, and there will be no cuts in the administrative ranks, other than Greg Davis whose position was cut three years ago, but oddly the district found the $150,000 per year to keep him on the payroll. The teachers were lied to by their union, and if you wait long enough you will see the teachers that are laid off wont be in school come sept. Get your facts, NON TEACHER. Must be a concerned-hater. There are lots of them out there who are always worried the truth might hurt 'em.

To “teacher in Frontier lives in Hamburg”

The teachers are getting a raise next school year, right? So, their salaries (which are set for the school year, not February to February) are not frozen. To say they’re “frozen until next February” and say “that is a freeze” is not factually correct. The teachers are getting raises next school year; that’s the fact.

Also, can we please avoid the name-calling? Pointing out a factual error doesn’t make me a “concerned-hater”. Heck, I don’t even know who “Concerned” is; how can I hate her? (I’m guessing that “Concerned” is a her, but that’s just a guess).

Not a teacher, the fiscal year of the school district starts on JULY 1. What exactly, sir, is a pay freeze? It is suggested, a pay freeze is something that holds one's pay at the rate of the previous year. Legal documents, such as a labor agreement have authomatic provisions for salaries to advance on step, aka the triborough law. When they HTA foolishly votes to suspend this law, that triggers, in this matter a pay freeze. Call it what you will, but salaries are frozen at the 2011-2012 rate. Not a teacher, above and beyond your speculation on Concerned's gender, you ought question the out of control salaries of stephen achromovitch, gregg Davis, the new personnel director and the administration of the schools. The total salaries and benefits of this group is sick. And how much does the district pay, and will pay in unemployment benefits? You should be informed, and a good place to start is with our friend Concerned.

Maybe if the district didn't spend 400k with Harris beach the teachers wouldn't have ad to take a pay cut
