In effect, raising the taxes of the homeowner and other small business owners to the benefit of those companies who have been awarded a tax furlough from the Hamburg IDA.
According to the news reports, Hamburg Board Vice President Patty Brunner Collins has a family member who has enjoyed tax relief to expand their local restaurant, and according to the Hamburg IDA minutes this restaurant owner has recently asked for an extension of this tax relief.
The small businesses who have received tax incentives are not creating high paying jobs.
Rather, as reported on WGRZ, IDAs are taking money from school districts by offering sales tax incentives to local restaurants, pizza places, and eyeglass shops.
Who sits on the Hamburg IDA?
None other than Hamburg Central School District Board of Education member, Mr. Matthew Dils.
Does Mr. Dils have any idea what he is doing to the taxpayer in Hamburg Central Schools?
Does he understand that he is participating in sucking tax dollars out of the schools in Hamburg?
Does Patty Brunner Collins realize that her very family is also sucking tax dollars out of the school district?
Both of these members of the Board of Education ought to step down.
