Teachers asked to teach a 6th class in lieu of supervisory assignments

Concerned has learned that some teachers in Hamburg High School have been called into Assistant Principal Brent Jordan's office and asked to teach a 6th class rather than having a supervisory duty, i.e. lunch room supervisor.
So, it seems that some teachers who have agreed to the 6th class option are not too concerned about their colleagues who have or who may be laid off.

Here are the Commission of Education Regulations on this matter:
NYSED / P-12 / Part 100 Regulations / 100.2 General School Requirements
Teaching staff in public schools. The number of daily periods of classroom instruction for a teacher should not exceed five. A school requiring of any teacher more than six teaching periods a day, or a daily teaching load of more than 150 pupils, should be able to justify the deviation from this policy.

Great Post

what this means is that Achramovitch has his bull s meter running. His job is to convince us that he is right or maybe just maybe if we don't crawl up his behind far enough we will be on his hit list. Well right now as I see it our non functioning union can now see his tonsils. What next? Our studnets and my children in the system are going to pay the price. achramovitch's job is to have us believe what he is doing is for the good of the district. What is good for the district is him getting the pink slip. Anyone who supports him needs to go. We will stay united and give his supporters the pink slip.

Students are bullying teachers. The AP Calculus class made a tahiti, mocking the credentials of another math teacher in the High School, " if calc was easy, Grup would teach it". Never mind the error in grammar, was vs. were, this kind of berating should be stopped. The calc teacher, who throws things around the room, and berates kids, should be investigated for lack of moral conduct....what a disgrace. Does the high school principal realize what a hypocrite he is......get a handle on your school Gallagher. What does this teach children???? All kinds of morality problems with kids taking AP classes at HHS.

AP students made a t-shirt...oops....touch pad.

Hey Anonymous 10:42, get your facts straight. Hill and Grupka are friends; nobody is being bullied. It was meant as a joke. Also, was and were are both acceptable grammatically. By the way, since you are concerned with correctness, what is a tahiti? Did you mean t-shirt but are unable to spell that?

Business First Elementary School Rankings came out today and Clarence central School District Had all four of its Elementary Schools make the list, only 3 of ours did.in the past three years all of our Elementary schools have dropped Consistently form 2009 with the exception of Union pleasant who moved up So that made me think the districts are the same size school wise 4 Elementary schools 1 Middle and a High school. How do we stack up budget wise? What about the number of students? Does their superintendent make more or less then ours? It seem to me this is something our school board should look at when thinking about keeping our current super if our school board can Cut and ask our teachers for more shouldn’t they do the same with our super?

It should be, " If calc WERE easy......" past subjunctive, stating a condition that is not the case. Not, " if calc was easy..... " past indicative- not contrary to the case. Was is wrong, were is right. And, teaching kids to mock a teacher just because he is friends with their calc teacher IS WRONG in every test of English and civility. Bullying comes in all forms, the most common is mockery. Wonder what the community will think of the math teacher, when the kids wear them around town??? Really funny.

English Teacher in a T: Wow, you must be a lot of fun to be around. You have never joked with your friends???? These two excellent teachers form bonds with their students. It is okay to have fun sometimes. Grupka has taught Calculus, as has Hill. It is a joke - get over it and find something to really be upset about, like the damage being done to this district by the current SB and superintendent!
