Teacher's pay ranked 74th place out of 98 Western New York School Districts

What taxpayer in Hamburg Schools isn't shocked to learn their tax dollars are being squandered on Mr.Dils who does not bother to show up for School Board meetings? Meanwhile, the teachers of Hamburg hover in the lowest quarter of teacher pay in WNY. After the teachers agreed to a pay freeze for the 12-13 school year, they will likely sink lower to the bottom next year. Another question for an entirely different post would be to ask the teachers what they are thinking for settling for this kind of pay. Where is the teachers' union??? While everyone sleeps, Harris Beach fattens their coffers. Step down Mr. Dils and stop wasting our tax dollars.

While no one in education goes into the field with the expectation of becoming wealthy, it should not be difficult to comprehend the desire of teachers to make a competive wage. I know many in the community will complain that teachers make a "good" salary and have "excellent" benefits, but consider the amount of school and training educators must have to recieve and keep certification. These are people with or above a graduate level education. While teachers do enjoy a summer "off" many are planning for the next school year and attending manditory staff development classes. If we keep asking our teachers to freeze their pay and take concessions, who is going to want to stay and work here. Don't our kids deserve the best teachers?

You said it perfectly. What a sham of a school district with the over paid administrators. Achramovitch has never gained our respect and likely will not after referring to us as IDIOTS. I suppose he tells the board he never said that. All recorded on cell phone referred to a # of us as IDIOTS. Joan Calkins is to blame for his attitude. He hides behind her superior arrogrance. Her way or the highway.

your narrow election a wake up call said...

What have you become Dr. Joan Calkins? Your backroom deals with Achramovitch are causing our school community to question your motives. Why do you go to great lengths to allow this man to terrorize our teachers and staff? All they keep asking, what next? Who will he snake around to plant false ideas about. He has a very bad ruputation in Ken/Ton, Greece and Hamburg. What does it take for you to stop denying this to yourself. Steve Achramovitch is a sociopathic type person a real charmer. Only cares for his own economic survival not you or the other bd members you are only a vehicle he uses to achieve his own survival here.

The administration keeps getting fatter and the teachers leaner. We are the ones who have the best interests of our students, we go the extra mile. Not this Supt. or administration. Our students are the looses in this set up.

you have board members who don't care about the back bone of our schools (teachers). Administrators gave up nothing.

Blowing money like this makes us sick.

Blame this mess on C Huen and M. Jurockovitch from NYSUT. Both these screwballs screwed the teachers...in more ways than one.

Salary aside, do taxpayers know there is not enough money for new textbooks in the areas of English and Math? How can we be rated as " highly effective" teachers if we do not have materials necessary to teach the new Common Core Standards? Will this be addressed at the next BOE meeting? We are depriving our students of the necessary resources needed for a solid and competitive education.

One of the main responsibilities of the superintendent is to recommend textbooks, and the BOE must vote on it. Federal money is allocated specifically for text books. Does Steve know what a textbook looks like???? has the BOE ever adopted a text book? The BOE is too wrapped up in Dils Drama and worrying about the blog to do the right thing. Get a clue BOE...DILS is a scanky freak.

Brilliant work, thank you, only place we can get our thoughts out. We have a gag order, so we will blow off here. I cannot tell you how happy we are to tell that bastard off here.
We will smile and play nice nice, but in reality we despise him for what he has done to our friends and our education system.

Love this blog congratulations and thank you. Thanks for getting the info out. Better than the Sun and the News.

Are you surprised there is no money for textbooks? There has never been any money available. Basic classroom supplies are bought by the teachers. Chalk has been wasted year after year by cleaning staff who wipe the trays out the chalk trays and the chalk with it. Meanwhile the teachers are expected to stay late on Thursdays for no reason other than they can be made too. Most would gladly stay to help a student to attend an important meeting. Most are stuck until 4:20 with not a student or administrator in sight. Many come in early to work with kids to balance family responsibilities. All this is a slap in the face and a disregard for the value on teachers' time. How about changing up departments responsible for certain classes or creating programs to save some departments at the cost of others. Meanwhile who is going to teach my kid AP Bio or health? Last how about pitting teachers against teachers and claiming to the entire community that unless the teachers take a pay cut others will be out of work, while you take your own nice step increase. Let's cutback on the pay of a couple of administrators and see how many teachers, programs, and textbooks we can afford. Who are we kidding, those jobs saved will be lost next year when the next contract is negotiated and more jobs will be on the line. Who will want to teach my kids here? Would you want to work in a place where you are not valued in any way? I have just about had it. BOE members take notice, we are paying attention and you need to start doing the job you promised us (not the administration BTW) or you will be out. Its already started. Stop using our hard earn money for anything other than providing our kids with the best education. That is what I pay taxes for.

In honor of Operation Overlord, I wonder how many people ask the question about social studies? In view of the recent trial of Dr. Corasanti and the publics outrage of the jury, has anyone wondered why citizens are not more informed of their obligations to our society? The 12th grade government class at HHS is a joke. The kids need to graduate understanding the Constitution and their rights and obligations to a democratic society. Lets face it, there is nothing more important. Who cares about math, science, language, music, drivers ed, athletics, or the food in the lunchroom if our young people are not taught to understand the highest laws of the land and to fully embrace their rights and contribute to our community. Who cares about anything else, because without an informed citizen, we may as well have the HaMBURG "BORED" OF EDUCATION AND DEMOCRACY.

Word on the street is Matt Dils hates to show up for Board of Education Picture sessions, can you blame him?

Concerned , an idea for a story might be about the superintendents communications between districts....West Seneca, Kenton, springville, hamburg. When the small town law enforcement agents stop the behind the closed doors harassment of staff by using slander and libel, the superintendents step it up. More to follow on this topic....a story too big for concerned. Barbara obrien of the news has been contacted. Hopefully achramo and a few other overpaid superintendents will be publicly humility for harassing people for using their constitutional rights.
