This article (link below in purple) appeared on a Rochester area news webpage regarding the leaking of information from the Board of Education of the Greece Public Schools, when Steve Achramovitch was the superintendent.
Is it plausible that Mr. Achramovitch has a history of "leaking" information from Board Meetings? Concerned has heard parts of the Sept 21, 2010 Board of Education meeting, and it sounds very strange indeed. Concerned opines that whatever recording device was used in the September 21, 2010 meeting, it was very near to Superintendent Achramovitch as his voice is loud and clear. Naturally, this is just an opinion, but it does appear odd that Greece had issues with leaks. Readers please recall, Mr. Achramovitch was only in Hamburg for approximately 21 days when a meeting was recorded and that recording was widely distributed around the community. Also please recall, that Mr. Achramovitch had been a superintendent in both Ken-Ton Schools and Greece Schools, and as such was well seasoned in the politics of Boards of Education. If you click on the link to the Rochester story, a then member of the Greece Board of Education criticizes Mr. Achramovitch for acting without board approval and viewing the board as a "necessary inconvenience".
Furthermore, it appears that Mr. Achramovitch was well aware that the Hamburg Board of Education was violating Open Meeting Laws on many levels, but he chose to ignor this fact until a citizen, Sally Stephenson, filed an Article 78 proceeding in New York State Supreme Court. The September 21, 2010 meeting was deemed to be in violation of Open Meeting Laws by Justice Devlin of the NYS Supreme Court.
So, why would the superintendent want to record a meeting of the Hamburg Board of Education?
Second, the public should be aware that there were several individuals who were in the meeting that was recorded, who were not board members, notably, the external auditor and several administrators. The voices of these individuals are on the recording that Concerned has heard, but the recording device most clearly and loudly picks up the superintendent, as if the recorder was on his person or very near by.
Third, Mr. Achramovitch's first act as interim superintendent was to fire a highly regarded and respected probationary teacher for reasons which were trumped up and manufactured by members of the community. Not only did the Board of Education buy the lies hook, line and sinker, it sounds very clear that they relished in their part of destroying the teaching career of a young woman with flawless credentials and personal standards par excellence. Joan Calkins seems to take particular delight in fulfilling her personal agenda against this young woman and outstanding alumnus of Hamburg High School. Mr. Achramovitch lies in the meeting claiming he had documents that never existed. And what does he get for his lies, the full time superintendents position making over $175,000 per year and an open checkbook to spend at Harris Beach to cover up the lies that he and others told. These were not little white lies, these lies were whoppers that included the Hamburg Village Police and the Hamburg Village Judge.
So, why would Mr. Achramovitch tape this meeting? It appears to Concerned based on his past behavior that he tape the meeting because he could. Simply put, Steve's record demonstrates he does things because he can, not because they are right thing to do. It seems to Concerned that Mr. Achramovitch is the likely person to have taped that meeting, his first meeting, the one in which he had to make up stories to fire a young woman who the Board of Education clearly wanted out of the system. If one were to hear this recording, and the community should, it would clearly demonstrate the sickness of mind and spirit of many members of the Board of Education and the Superintendent.
So, how did the tape recording travel around the community? Concern can only come to the conclusion that the recording mechanism fell into the hands of a person with character, and that person made certain that those who were defamed and slandered were made aware. One could say, Steve got sloppy, and possibly left his recorder behind. This would not be the first time that it appears Steve got sloppy. Concerned understands that Steve got sloppy with email at KenTon, and was implicated in sloppy leaks in Greece.
So, Hamburg, what makes you think you are any different?
