Hamburg High School reported to be unhealthy

Concerned is Concerned

STUDENTS, STAFF AND TEACHERS FEEL ILL AT THE HAMBURG HIGH SCHOOL.

Concerned Hamburger was emailed today regarding unusual illnesses reported by teachers, staff and most importantly students at Hamburg High School.  As background information, the Hamburg High School has been undergoing structural changes.  As you know, Hamburg taxpayer, because you voted in favor of the recent bond, the High School is getting new science laboratories (despite cutting 5 science teachers), and many other structural updates, like windows.

Hamburg taxpayer, you will be pleased to know that the structure may appear impressive; yet,  the substance of your school district is unhealthy at the core.

Concerned was emailed and told that at least 15 teachers and as many as 150 students complained about feeling sick with head aches and nausea, and that was only since Tuesday.   It was revealed that these ailments are the result of solvents, adhesives and other materials, like exposed drywall, that can cause serious illness in humans.

Steve Achramovitch and HHS Principal Mr. Gallagher were both told about the reports of illness.

The response that was provided to teachers and staff is shocking.

Concerned was emailed by a teacher that has experienced such sickness that they went to see a doctor, and was put on an anti-migrain drug.

In an effort to sweep this issue under the district carpet, Mr. Achramovitch recommended that if teachers are feeling sick, they should go home.

YES, GO HOME DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!

YES, TEACHERS SHOULD GO HOME IF THEY ARE SICK BECAUSE OF THE TOXICITY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

BUT, WHY ISN'T THE DISTRICT SEARCHING FOR THE CAUSE OF THESE CONCERNS?

So, what about Teachers worried about taking a  sick day?

The answer?

DO NOT WORRY.
IF YOU ARE A TEACHER AND GO HOME FROM SCHOOL SICK, YOU NEED NOT WORRY ABOUT LOSING A SICK DAY.

 WHY?

WELL, STEVE WILL SEND IN A REPLACEMENT WORKER.
THE ILLNESS THEY MAY ENCOUNTER DUE TO THE TAINTED SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT IS NOT THE CONCERN OF THE DISTRICT.

SO, WHAT ABOUT THE STUDENTS????

IF YOU ARE A PARENT OF A STUDENT IN HAMBURG, PLEASE KEEP THEM HOME.

HAMBURG HIGH SCHOOL IS NOT A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.

IF THE HIGH SCHOOL WERE SAFE, STEVE WOULD NOT HAVE TOLD THE TEACHERS TO GO HOME, AND NOT WORRY ABOUT A SICK DAY!

Safety first for all.We need a professional evaluation on what is happening in the hs. my daughter came home with a head ache, this was her first experience having a head ache, her two friends light headed. Remember toxic exposures come back in later years . Our Concern is for the workers also.

Our kid came home feeling ill. No answer from the school, just a few calls from kids friends with same sighs and symptoms. Please take this seriously, our kids don't need to be exposed to harmful chemicals.

Thanks for the information

Thanks concerned, the media should be aware and we should be told, not by a blog but by the supt.

No insult intended glad for info. but the district should be up front and not always finding themselves reacting to exposure. Thanks for the information.
