Hamburg APPR hits the early presses of the Buffalo News

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

Hamburg School teachers, your YES vote on APPR will put a systematic and abrupt end to TENURE in Hamburg Central Schools.  NYSED Commissioners Regulation 3020-a guarantees due process in any measure against a teacher.  You are currently subjected to the observation and evaluation plan in your collective bargaining agreement.

APPR will destroy that process and subject you and your career to the arbitrary roll of dice of your class roster, and the capricious behavior of an evaluator.  Those of you who are in buildings like Union Pleasant Elementary are very well aware of the whimsical nature of your building principal.  The three other Elementary Schools and the Middle School all have non-tenured principals and assistant principals who are the eager beavers of Mr. Achramovitch.
The Appeals process in your proposed APPR plan gives Mr. Achramovitch final say on your fate as a teacher, and removes any Constitutional right you enjoy to appeal.
Why would any sensible person ever vote to invalidate Constitutional guarantees?
This is dangerous.

Achramoreaper

Reflect on the last two and a half years in Hamburg since Mr. Achramovitch became superintendent, and think about the Achrama-drama he has brought to this district.

Prior to Mr. Achramovitch, Hamburg was a quiet, charming and family like district which was transformed into dysfunction by Achramo-fearmongering.

APPR and the disasterous Appeals process will be the final Achrama-blow before he sets off into the sunset collecting his NYS Pension on a final average salary of over $175,000.

A Vote of NO will not harm you in anyway.
Conversely, a Vote of NO might breathe confidence back into bodies and souls of Hamburg teachers removing in its path the dire lack of morale that has plagued the teachers since the arrival of Achramo-crumb in 2010.

Hamburg teachers think of your possible good fortune as you observe much of the rest of NYS dismantle public education as we know it.
Hamburg teachers espouse the wisdom and sensibilities of angels and do not foolishly rush into APPR out of fear.

This is a dangerous situation for educators across New York State.

Achramovitch's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Steve Achramovitch promised us a curriculum, now he tells us no. Promises broken, and we are to be given a fair shake?
Agree with most, NO TRUST IN THE SUPT. Dishonest is the word to describe him.

A HTA storm. Maureen G. calling Steve's cell phone stat. She is the mole in our membership.

Supt. Steve Achramovitch should be ashamed of himself for trying to play a fast one on us, with holding the most important part of this appr process the appeals process. Imagine signing an agreement and having the things added after the fact. This isn't what we signed. Go fight Steve , you won't win he has a team of lawyers at our expense, we have to pay out of pocket. Present HTA leadership will not back us up if we have issues with him.

This is Steve's problem,

Watch Dog is correct, Steve has had us by the unmentionables too long, we have him by his. We are here because he played games with the appr committee & contract committee, and tried to dupe the HTA members. I sure hope the Union Leadership is innocent in all this, if found out not to be they should all step aside or be removed. Solidarity and I am sincere 15+

What I want to know is where were the administrators while the committee was working on the APPR? The super tries to make last minute changes, and the document isn't even correct? I feel like they're trying to cast the teachers in a bad light if they don't vote yes, but with so much riding on this if I was a Hamburg Teacher I would want to b confident that this was the best agreement possible. If it doesn't get accepted in time, that's a huge hit to a. Already struggling district. APPR is not good for kids. It means more tests and less teaching to think. It means more time and money spent on trivial things than going to kids. Educators can't speak up for fear that they will look like they are trying to hide bad teaching. Parents and taxpayers you need to speak up. This is not acceptable. Meanwhile politicians are carrying on w/ status quo and no one is paying attention.

Essentially what you have here is an opportunity for a no confidence vote. APPR is the law and the district will have to implement it sooner or later. But wouldn't you feel much better about it if you had a superintendent with integrity and honesty, one that you knew was a true educator at heart and would always have your back.

Put it this way: If this does not get passed; Achramo will likely be let go. Same with the budget. Getting referendums passed is usually part of a super's performance review. Those who cannot get initiatives like this approved, do not keep their jobs. Hamburg will likely have to buy out his newly extended contract, unless the boe finds their spine and terminates him for cause. There's ample evidence for it.

So the question now is whether Hamburg teachers will take this opportunity to use their vote to usher out the super. You may not get another chance at this.

in regard to union matters my opnon is mauren garra is in over her head. achrmovitch the master manipulator can trick many. this appeals process is so one sided , in administrations favor, so against our teachers. we will be giving steve achramovitch the power to terrorize all of us. i do not trust the supt,0 he has demonstrated his dishonesty all throughout this process.

The superintendent isn't the only one that will be let go! You can count on losing many teachers if the vote is no. Let's say $450,000 worth. We'll shoot ourselves in the foot.

ANON 10;22 maybe stevie can stop using all the lawyers to fill simple FOIL requests. He should be in jail for all the money he squandered. He is a wasteful man. We hear he even has his gas paid for by the taxpayers. He wont cut teachers....we wont be here. He willl be on the unemployment line. CHeck out his history...he does this ship where ever he goes.

many district wide supt. are warning that the funds coming from the state do not financially begin to cover the cost of rtttt and the appr piece. the dist will actually save money by not adopting this appr now, appeals piece flawed, a supt. set up to fire any teacher he desires. remember 60% of the evaluation is at his whim. we should not trust him-with this much power over our membership.
