I cannot believe the amount spent on legal fees. Budget may go down because the waste on lawyers has us on a fixed income upset. I feel for those being attacked and what I read the school board is out to'bankrupt" a board member. Where after a couple of years is the proof of the claims, we as taxpayers really don't care for the fighting and the needless attacks about a recording. We don't care and certainly not in the amount of tax dollars that is mentioned here.

Great piece in Art Voice. Protect and defend our 1st amendment rights. Why we are able to have this discussion now. I will be there and I am a teacher so I will be there for more than just the RTT vote, but to be in support to defend our right to post on blogs. Supt theatening to attack us for writing or running blogs is over reaching. We do want him gone as well as the sb pres. Sorry you can come after me now.

I blame the power brokers for the $400,000. legal spending. As we see it the school district initiated this CIVIL CASE. Now what we will be demanding is that when or if the three, Sally Lesney, Martha sue these officials, the school board will not be footing their bill since it has been revealed that the school officials our using my tax dollars for the lining of their own pockets, This is beyone the pale. Voting no on budget for this reason. We need some new officials with a sane financial mind. Not this mindless idiots throwning money down the toilet, please flush this Supt down too. Bring Our Hamburg Schools back the way we knew them a few years ago. Please someone

1/2 million bucks on blood sucking lawyers. I will be at the next sb 5/14 meeting and I don't give a rats ass about any recording "board angry" who cares you ass holes if you "feel angry"we have a job to do and that is to educate our kids not you silly petty games. School Board members in this scheme to profit from a civil suit we will come after you legally to pay back that money to the school district. I hope those being attacked sue the shit out of those abusive board members who think they can get away with using our taxes to sue and profit with our money. We will make you pony up all the fees you think you have the privledge to steal from our kids. Use your own cash not ours.

Angry Dad not supporting this joan calkins or achramo.

Why would Board members care about a secretly taped meeting unless it contains damning information that they fear will be made public? Where was the police investigation if this was a criminal act? A civil suit for an unprosecuted, alleged criminal act...something seems whacky here. Has it ever been established that this taping was not done legally by someone present at the meeting? Anyone have any ideas or worthwhile info?

Voted for Dr Calkins in the past, will not consider her for another term.

Dr. Joan Calkins runs this district and every bad move has been generated by Steve Achramovitch. Joans biggest mistake letting him use her for his self serving vindictive agenda. Sorry to inform Dr. Calkins if she loses it is because of our distrust of Steve Achramovitch, he should have been cut loose after our appr vote in January. That was the last straw for us, passing appr recently not because of Steve Achramovitch, we passed it because he was told to stay away from the entire process. #1 reason for poor morale in this school district is STEVE ACHRAMOVITCH AND DR. JOAN CALKINS for allowing him to terrorize education in Hamburg. Now you have it own it. This was an actual poll not some pie in the eye statement.

I heard that the 9-21-10 executive session was a really hoot. Joan Calkins was singing show tunes from the sound of music, and patty brought snacks. Whoa... they must be humiliated. and Joan wants to be on the Bored again. Not a chance in this community...the talk of the restaurants is asshole Joan!

I thought it was already decided by a judge that a crime was not committed with regard to the taper caper. So then what is this civil suit for? If they win? Who gets the money? The kids who attend Hamburg schools? Will some staff be hired back? Unfortunately, no.

If they lose (probably), who PAYS the cost? The taxpayers of Hamburg and the kids who attend Hamburg schools. They already have. The only possible winner here is the law firm.

When you vote on the school budget, keep in mind that you only vote yes or no on the bottom line number. After that, the school board can spend that money any way they please, no matter what they tell you in a board meeting. By law, they are only bound to stick to that bottom line number. They can and do transfer money from one budget line to another all year long. It's called a budget transfer and the board has likely approved one at nearly every meeting.

If you do not like how they choose to spend your money, the only recourse for a taxpayer is to vote no. If the budget is defeated, that would presumably have the effect of forcing the board to listen to the people (hopefully). Some boards remain steadfast and stubborn, to their detriment, and eventually taxpayers have no other option but to unseat the existing board members.

Democracy at work is often painfully slow. I've had enough of this embarrassment. I'm voting no.

Curious who you are supporting for the upcoming School Board election? I like john Callahan and Gary Klumpp. I think they would team with Sally and Holly to get ridof this Superintendent.
Also the word "bored" instead of "Board" is way over used. It takes away from the witty meaning you intended.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your observation that we overuse "bored" of Education. We are happy to revert to Board, once the imbeciles who were elected to act as a 7 member Board grow up and start serving their constituents- the children and young adults of Hamburg. Until such time, CH will remain of the opinion that they are bored of education.
