The Hamburg Board of Education election 2013 was exciting. David Yoviene, Catherine Schrauth Forcucci and Laura Heeter won the three seats open in a landslide victory- the Hamburg School Community spoke loud and in a clear voice. The winners defeated the only incumbent seeking re-election to the Board of Education. Current members, Matthew Dils and Diane Reynolds did not seek re-election.
The community of Hamburg spoke loud and clear, they did not want Joan Calkins to continue on the Board due to her part in the planned destruction of the school district over the last 4 years. Joan and Steve's trampling upon the United States Constitution sent a wave of resentment throughout the community, and the votes cast reflect that sentiment.
Concerned has learned that Joan Calkins made some lackluster, unorganized attempt at a campaign for re-election. Her campaign included telephone calls to numbers she obtained from the district- a direct violation of privacy, and a brochure in which she failed to focus on her campaign, and those running against her, but rather tells lies about private citizens and uses an old man as a pawn in her sick game. The telephones numbers that were called by the Calkins campaigners were the emergency contact numbers of the parents in the Hamburg School District. Where did Joan et. al get their hands on those numbers?
Joan's campaign literature was not only malignant to private citizens, it was poorly constructed with many errors. As a Vassar College and Johns Hopkins graduate, one would think Joan could do better.
Joan's behavior in the election was nothing short of outrageous, and a simple question was answered by the voters in Hamburg, is Joan Calkins the kind of person you want serving on the Board of Education? The community answered, NO!
A few questions remain unanswered and only time will reveal the truth. Concerned and others expect a Joan and Steve stunt before the last day of June when Joan will vacate her seat as Board of Education President, and the district will be liberated. The reports which have come to Concerned regarding paper shredding and document tampering at the Hamburg Administration Building are troubling, but not surprising.
July 1, 2013 brings a brand new day in the Hamburg School District, and once again the sun will shine.
