|The Sprit of '76|
Today we celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, and American independence from the British. We celebrate freedom, independence and an American form of republican government. In a republic the matters of state are open to the public. Matters of state are not not the private concern of the rulers, but rather belong to the citizen.
In a republic, public officials are elected by the citizens; and no public official has an inherent right to an office.
God Bless America!
