New York Education Commissioner John King Jr. is due in Buffalo for the latest in a series of forums on the Common Core, teacher evaluations and other reforms.Thursday's forum with King and Regents Robert Bennett is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at WNED-TV, which will broadcast the hour-long session live. Erie One BOCES Superintendent Ogilve is a former Trustee of WNED, and it was stated he had a hand in selecting venue.
In the audience will be members of the District Parent Coordinating Council and representatives from area school districts. Members of the general public, chosen by lottery (how democratic), will fill any remaining seats.

So, instead of having the event in a larger forum, WNED was selected due to its limited size and inherent ability to control the crowd. Why not have this event at larger facility, like any of the music halls or sporting arenas around Buffalo? Perhaps the education brass in NYS prefer small.

So Hamburg Community members, here is your chance to speak out on educational issues. Concerned Hamburger hopes to learn Hamburg grass roots activists, like Mr. Ed Piazza and his merry band of local attorneys, will be leading the Hamburg charge to get the ear of Mr. King and Regent Bennett. (Don's ear is already all theirs) So don your blue parkas and get to WNED* studios at the foot of the Skyway and speak loudly and clearly against the destruction of public education in New York State.
King has been traveling the state defending his department's implementation of more rigorous learning standards and assessments, saying they're necessary to prepare students for college and careers.
*And while at the studios of our great local public broadcasting radio and television stations, WNED, please remember that if you like this program, you will like it more as a member, and consider buying a membership to WNED- democracy depends it.
